1953

The Group was formed in April meeting at Christchurch Hall, Montpellier, Gloucester.† The Group soon attracted many boys into the Wolf Cubs and Scout Sections.† The Group Scout Master (now known as Group Scout Leader) was Colin James.

1954

The Scout Patrol Leaders and Seconds went on the first camp held by the Group, they spent a weekend at Cranham in June.† The first Summer Camp was held this year for the Scouts, they camped at Llangynider in Wales.

1955

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Horner in Somerset, 14 nights.

1956

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site in Wales, 12 nights.

1957

The Group stared itís own marching band, who were then known as the 46th Gloucester Scout Band.† They used a few second hand bugles and drums.

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Horner in Somerset, 12 nights.

1958

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site in Wales, 10 nights.

1959

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held in Bournemouth, 10 nights.

1960

Summer Camp for the Scouts and Senior Scouts was held at the Hermitage, 10 nights.

1961

The Scouts and Senior Scouts camped at the Welsh Jamboree, 7 nights.

1962

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at the Hermitage, 7 nights.

1963

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site in Wales, 10 nights.

1964

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held in Bournemouth, 10 nights.

1965

Summer Camp for the Scouts and Senior Scouts was held in Crawfordsburn, Ireland, 14 nights.

1966

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held in Wotton Courtney, Minehead, Somerset, 10 nights.

1967

Senior Scouts became known as Venture Scouts.

Summer Camp for the Scouts and Venture Scouts was held in Aberdovey, Wales, 10 nights.

1968

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held in Ireland, they camped at Crawfordsburn Scout Camp Site for 14 nights.

1969

Summer Camp for the Scouts was a tour of Wales, this camp was held during Whitson Week, Friday 23rd till Tuesday 27th May.

1970

Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Swanage, 8 nights.

1971

Whitson camp was held at Miserden Saturday 29th till Monday 31st May.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was on a narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal starting from Braunston Saturday 7th till Saturday 14th August, 7 nights.

1972

Whitson camp was held at Biblins, 5 members of Kingfisher Patrol, 5 members of Kestrel Patrol, 3 members of Falcon Patrol & 5 Leaders, Friday 26th till Monday 28th May.

Summer Camp for the Scouts was at Rydal Hall, Lake District.† On camp were 3 members of Kestrel Patrol, 3 members of Kingfisher Patrol, 4 members of Falcon Patrol, 3 other helpers 4 Leaders plus two children, 7 nights.

1973

Whitson camp was held at Gilwell Park, London.† Cub weekend camp was held at Eastnor Park in July.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Chudleigh Knighton, 9 nights.

1974

Whitson camp was held at Holly Barn for Cubs & Scouts.† Summer Camp for the Scouts and Venture Scouts was in Gouda, Holland, 16 nights.

1975

Whitson camp was held at Eastnor.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Aberdovey, 7 nights.† The Venture Scouts camped at Bournemouth.

1976

Girls were now allowed to join Venture Scouts.

Philip Iles, Steve Thomas and Nigel Spicer won the fastest senior class team for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 8hrs 56mins.

Whitson camp was held at Holly Barn.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was in the Lake District, 7 nights.† The Venture Scouts went on a narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal from Braunston.† Cubs indoor camp at Bracelands on Friday 22nd till Sunday 24th October.

1977

Phillip Iles, Nigel Spicer & Alan Prosser won the Fastest senior class team for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 10hrs 5mins.

Cub camp at Bracelands during March.† Jubilee Weekend camp, 3rd till 6th June, on camp were 31 Cubs, 19 Scouts, 4 Senior Scouts, 10 Cub Leaders, 5 Scout Leaders, 1 Senior Scout Leader and two other Leaders.

Summer Camp for the Scouts and Venture Scouts was in Aberdovey, 12 nights.

1978

Whitson camp was held at Jackbarrow Polo Field, Miserden.† Summer Camp for the Scouts and Venture Scouts was a tour of the twin towns of Gloucester, which at the time were Metz in France (4 nights), Gouda in Holland (5 nights) and Trier in Germany (5 nights), total of 16 nights.

1979

Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Welshpool, 9 nights.† Cub camp was held at Bracelands in October.

1980

Cub Camp was held at Eastnor.† Summer Camp for the Scouts and Venture Scouts was in the Lake District, 14 nights.† Cub camp was held at Holly Barn Saturday 25th till Sunday 26th October.

1981

Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Welshpool, 14 nights.

1982

Philip Iles won the fastest in the Cotswold Class (over 30ís) for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 9hrs 48mins.

Spring bank holiday camp was held at Miserden.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was in the Gower, 14 nights.

1983

Philip Iles won the fastest in the Cotswold Class (over 30ís) for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 9hrs 22mins.

Summer Camp for the Scouts was at Stoke Gabriel, Devon.

1984

Summer Camp for the Scouts was at Park Mill, Gower.

1985

Summer Camp for the Scouts was in Brixham, Devon.

1986

The First Summer Camp for the Cubs was held at Gilwell Park, London.† The Scouts camped at Keyhaven, Hampshire.

1987

All sections moved from Christchurch to Chequers Bridge Centre for meetings.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Gilwell Park, London.

1988

Joy Turner won the fastest female novice for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 11hrs 30mins.

Summer Camp for the Cubs was held at Penlan, St. Clears, Tenby.

1989

Summer Camp for the Chequers Bridge Centre Scout Troop was held at Youlbury Scout Camp Site, Oxfordshire.† Summer Camp for the Hemspted Scout Troop was held at Llantwit Major.† The Venture Scouts went to Austria.

1990

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held in the Isle of Wight.† The Venture Scouts went on a narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal from Braunston.

1991

Kathy Price won the fastest female novice for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 12hrs 50mins.

Summer Camp for the Venture Scouts was in Torquay.

1992

John Orpin, John Quinnell, Val Heaven & Colin Turner won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class (over 30ís) for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 12hrs 58mins.

On 22nd February the Group opened up all their sections for girls to join.

Summer Camp for Cubs and Scouts was held at Shell Island, Wales.

1993

John Orpin, John Quinnell & Val Heaven won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class (over 30ís) for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon, Val Heaven also won the fastest female in a time of 10hrs 42mins.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Penlan, St. Clears, Tenby.

1994

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Kingsdown Scout Camp Site, Kent.

1995

John Orpin, Mike White & Val Heaven won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class (over 30ís) for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon, Val Heaven also won the fastest female in a time of 10hrs 53mins.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Walton Firs Scout Camp Site, London.

1996

Stephen White, Richard Simpson and Mark Bridle came in 3rd place in a time of 4hrs 28mins for the 18 mile section of the Cotswold Marathon.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Butchers Coppice Scout Camp Site, Bournemouth.

1997

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held at Rhydd Covet Scout Camp Site, Kidderminster.

1998

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held at Silver Cross Scout Camp Site, Swansea.† Those who went on this camp may recall it being very wet and muddy.

1999

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held at Tolmers Scout Camp Site (Activity Week), London.

2000

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held in Germany, this was a joint camp with a Scout Group from Stockstadt am Main.

2001

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held at Huishwoods Scout Camp Site, Taunton.

2002

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts was held at Kingsdown Scout Camp Site, Kent, this was a joint camp with the Scouts and Venture Scouts from Stockstadt am Main, Germany.

2003

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Rhydd Covert Scout Camp Site, Kidderminster.

On 30th November the Group held their 50th Anniversary Celebration at Murray Hall, Tuffley.† Lots of members from the past and present came along to reminisce over the photoís and meet up with old friends from the past.

2004

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Consall Scout Camp Site, Stoke on Trent.†

2005

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Braggers Wood Scout Camp Site, Bournemouth.

2006

During April the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts stayed a week in Stockstadt am Main with the German Scouts from there.

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Rhydd Covert, Kidderminster.

2007

Tracey Walsh won the fastest female for the full route of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 14hrs 29mins.

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Milton Bryan Scout Camp site, Woburn.

2008

Abby Paradine, Aimee Dowd & Kathryn Turner won the female novice trophy for the Bronze route (12 miles) of the Cotswold Marathon in a time of 4hrs 49mins.

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at Hargreaves Scout Camp Site, Romford, this was a joint camp with the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts from Stockstadt am Main.

2009

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Braggers Wood Scout Camp Site, Bournemouth.† The Explorer Scouts camped at Tolmers Scout Camp Site, Cuffley for the Activity week.

2010

Ashley Rodway, Casey Turner & Josh Dowd came in 2nd for the Bronze route (12 miles) in a time of 4hrs 22mins.† Kathryn Turner, Phillip Mayo, Jordan Turner & Aimee Dowd came 1st in the Silver Route (18 miles) in a time of 5hrs 29mins.† Mark Turner, Steve Paradine, Ben Dowd along with German Scout Leaders from Stockstadt am Main Hilmar Debor & Hanno Baur came 3rd in the Gold Route (38 miles) in a time of 11hrs 41mins in the Cotswold Marathon.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was another very wet and muddy camp at Silver Cross Scout Camp Site, Wales.† The Explorer Scouts camped at Tolmers Scout Camp Site, Cuffley for the activity week.

2011

Casey Turner, Rheanna Dowd & Vincent Ashby won the fastest mixed team for the Bronze Route (12 miles) in a time of 4hrs 42mins.† Andre, Ashley Rodway & Nathan came 3rd in the Bronze Route in a time of 3hrs 36mins.† Steve Paradine, Mark Turner, Steve Rodway along with German Scout Leaders from Stockstadt am Main Hilmar Debor & Hanno Baur came 3rd in the Gold Route (38 miles) and also won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class and the fastest Veterans Team (over 30ís) in a time of 10hrs 55mins in the Cotswold Marathon.

Summer Camp for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts was held at The Oaks in Charnwood, Leicestershire.† The Explorers camped for the first week and were followed by the Cubs and Scouts.

2012

Steve Rodway, Steve Paradine & Mark Turner came in 2nd place for the Gold Route (38 miles) in a time of 12hrs 35mins in the Cotswold Marathon.

Summer Camp for the Cubs and Scouts was held at Torbay Scout Campsite in Watcombe, the Cubs camped for the first week and were followed by the Scouts.† The Explorer Scouts camped at Tolmers Scout Camp Site, Cuffley for the activity week.

2013

Mark Turner, Steve Rodway & Steve Paradine came in 3rd place and won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class and the fastest Veterans team (over 30ís) in a time of 11hrs 3mins in the Cotswold Marathon.

On 12th May the Group held their 60th Anniversary Celebration at Murray Hall, Tuffley, which many members from the past and present came along to look at the photoís and other memorabilia.† During the afternoon each section performed a play about the history of their section.

Group camp was held at Trac, Malswick on Friday 17th till Sunday 19th May, 18 Cubs, 10 Scouts, 11 Explorers & 13 Leaders camped for the two nights, 14 Beavers joined them on the Saturday and camped in tents (Beavers were only allowed to camp for one night at this time).

Summer Camps for the Cubs and Explorer Scouts was held at Dunham Park Scout Camp Site in Altrincham, with the Cubs camping first followed by the Explorers.† The Scouts camped at Torbay Scout Campsite in Watcombe.

2014

Mark Turner, Steve Rodway & Steve Paradine won the fastest team in the Cotswold Class and the fastest Veterans team (over 30ís) in the Cotswold Marathon

Group Camp was held at Trac, Malswick on Friday 9th till Sunday 11th May.† 10 Cubs, 12 Scouts, 8 Explorers and 11 Leaders camped for the two nights, 14 Beavers camped for one night.† During the camp, Police Officers came along for nearly the whole of Saturday where the younger members became Police Officers and the Leaders became villains.† Also a lady came along with her Birds of Prey which everyone had an opportunity to fly.

Chloe became the first Beaver in our Group to gain every badge available to Beavers

Summer Camp for the Cubs was held at Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site near Cardiff, the Scouts Summer Camp was held at Rhydd Covert Scout Camp site in Kidderminster and the Explorers Summer Camp was held at Tolmers Scout Activity Centre.

2015

The Cubs came in first and third place in Gloucester District Cub Quiz.

Steve Paradine, Steve Rodway & Clive Allen came in 3rd place and won the fastest Veterans team (over 30ís) in a time of 11hrs 34mins in the Cotswold Marathon

Group Camp was held at Trac, Malswick on Friday 12th till Sunday 14th June.† This year the Beavers camped for two nights.† There were 18 Cubs, 10 Scouts, 9 Beavers and 15 Leaders.† During the camp they had the opportunity to go kayaking, archery, obstacle course, pedal cars, do some backwoods cooking, rafting, glass painting, along with some other games, activities, a disco and campfire.

Lorna Dowd became the first female Group Scout Leader of our Group.

Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Eaton Vale Activity Centre in Norwich.† The Cubs and Explorers both camped at Torbay Scout Camp Site in Watcombe on separate weeks.

2016

Summer Camp for the Explorers was held at Tolmers Scout Campsite, Cuffley, Potters Bar.†† Summer Camp for the Cubs was held at Hollygate Scout Camp Site, Cotgrave, Nottingham.† Summer Camp for the Scouts was held at Phasels Wood Scout Camp Site, Hemel Hempstead.

2017

Group Camp was held at Trac, Malswick on Friday 19th till Sunday 21st May.† Everyone camped for two nights.† On the camp were 15 Beavers, 15 Cubs, 14 Scouts, 4 Explorers and 17 Leaders/helpers.† During the camp they had the opportunity to have a go at rafting, orienteering, obstacle course, backwoods cooking and many other activities throughout the weekend.

The Band celebrated itís 60th Anniversary on 2nd July at Murray Hall, 3 founder members of the band were at the event, the band performed, and also the adult band that is made up of former and current members called Blast from the Past performed, also on display were photoís and other memorabilia.

Summer Camps for the Cubs and Scouts were held at Torbay Scout Camp Site in Watcombe, Devon.†

2018

Group Camp was held at Trac, Malswick on Friday 8th June till Sunday 10th June.† On camp were 13 Beavers, 20 Cubs, 14 Scouts, 5 Explorers and 16 Leaders/helpers.† During the camp they made cardboard boats which they then sailed on the lake, they also had a chance to have a go on a giant stand up paddle board along with all the other activities that are available at Trac.

Explorers were first on Summer Camp, this year they went to Tolmers Scout Camp Site, near Potters Bar where they took part in the activity week organised by the site.† 11 Explorers were on camp.† 9 Scouts went on Summer camp next, this year they went to Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site, during the camp they had a go at White Water Rafting.† 15 Cubs went on Summer Camp last they also went to Miskin Mill Scout Camp Site near Cardiff.
